Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process is designed to help you explore Product Space while giving us the chance to learn more about you. It includes three main stages: workshops & coffee chats, a written application, and an interview. Each step is meant to offer clarity, support, and insight into our community.

1. Workshops & Coffee Chats

1. Workshops & Coffee Chats

Not sure if Product Space is right for you? Meet with one of our board members for a coffee chat to learn about their journey and whether product management might be a fit for you. You can also get your resume reviewed at one of our workshops, which are open to everyone, whether you’re applying or not.

2. Written Application

2. Written Application

Submit your written application along with your resume to help us understand your interests, experiences, and motivation for exploring product. Below, you’ll find guidance on what we look for in strong applications and tips to help your submission stand out.

3. Interview Stage

3. Interview Stage

Our interview stage is an opportunity for us to get to know you beyond your application and for you to get to know our community. Conversations are relaxed and collaborative. We’re interested in how you think, what excites you, and how you’ve grown through your experiences. More than anything, we want you to feel supported throughout the process and leave with a genuine sense of who we are.

What We Look For

We want this process to feel as clear and approachable as possible. Our goal is simple: we want to get to know you and understand what you’d bring to the Fellowship. Below are a few things that help us learn more about you and see your potential. Use them as a guide for showing up at your best.

What We'd Love To Hear About

What We'd Love To Hear About

What We'd Love To Hear About

Your Background

No fancy internships needed. We’re interested in what you’ve learned in class, the extracurriculars or projects you’ve been part of, and how those experiences shape the way you think about product.

Your Interest in PS

We’re a close-knit organization, so we want people who genuinely care about product and about joining our community. Tell us why you’re excited about Product Space, what you hope to learn, and how our mission connects to your goals.

You!

We want to get a sense of who you are beyond your resume. Share what you care about, how you collaborate with others, and what excites you. You don’t need to tell your whole life story, but we’d love to hear about your hobbies, what you’re curious about, and anything cool you’ve seen or done.

What We're Looking For

What We're Looking For

What We're Looking For

Emotional Intelligence

We value thoughtful, two-way conversations. In coffee chats and interviews, listen actively, build on the other person’s ideas, and show genuine interest in their perspective—they’ll do the same for you. Strong communication and empathy go a long way in product.

Interest in Technology

You don’t need deep technical expertise, but we do want to see that you’ve thought about how technology shapes the world around us. Show that you can talk thoughtfully about a product you like, a company you find interesting, or a trend you’re curious about. It’s less about knowledge and more about curiosity and perspective.

Drive To Learn

Our tagline is “Come learn with us,” and we mean it. Product Space is all about growth, exploration, and trying new things. Show us that you’re eager to learn—share topics you’re excited about, recent discoveries, or anything that sparked your curiosity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do the PS Fellowship while doing a summer internship?

Yes — absolutely! Many of us balance internships, classes, or other commitments during the summer. The fellowship is designed to be flexible and manageable.

Do I need to know how to code to be a Fellow?

Nope — not at all! Many of our fellows start with little to no coding experience (and some board members didn’t code when they joined either). We also offer optional CS modules led by board members for anyone who wants to learn during the fellowship.

How many fellows are you looking for?

In past years, our cohort sizes have ranged from 11 to 25 fellows. For the upcoming fellowship, we expect to welcome around 15–20 students, depending on interest and capacity.

How big is the time commitment?

Fellows can expect to commit about 2–3 hours per week. We meet weekly throughout the summer and fall, and we structure the workload so you can balance it alongside classes, jobs, and other commitments. If you’re worried about the time, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to talk it through!

What do I need on my resume?

Not at all. If you’re new to building a resume, we provide a PS-approved template on our resources page. We’re not looking for FAANG internships. We care about your experiences, interests, and what motivates you. Share any projects, jobs, or extracurriculars you’ve been involved in. Tell us your story!
