EpicHire Case Study

EpicHire is a career platform that helps students and early-career candidates showcase their skills through assessments and portfolio-style profiles. Fellows worked with Epic Hire to explore immersive recruiting experiences and design a spatial recruiter interface for evaluating candidates’ soft skills and communication abilities.

The Problem

The Problem

The Problem

Traditional resumes and static candidate profiles fail to capture soft skills, communication ability, and personality, which are qualities that are increasingly critical in remote and early-stage hiring.

Recruiters struggle with:

  • Assessing communication and leadership before live interviews

  • Sifting through large volumes of similar resumes

  • Making confident early-stage decisions using limited signal

These challenges are amplified in virtual hiring environments.

Our Approach

Our Approach

Our Approach

We conducted market discovery and recruiter interviews to understand how hiring teams evaluate candidates today and where current tools fall short. Our work focused on:

  • Identifying breakdowns in early-stage candidate evaluation

  • Understanding recruiter efficiency constraints

  • Exploring how immersive interfaces could add signal without increasing cognitive load

Rather than replacing existing workflows, we designed an experience that augments recruiter judgment.

The Solution

The Solution

The Solution

We designed a recruiter interface for Apple Vision Pro that enables immersive, structured candidate evaluation.

Core features include:

  • VR Elevator Pitches that allow candidates to communicate experiences and personality in their own words

  • Holistic and immersive viewing modes, letting recruiters toggle between high-level summaries and deeper exploration

  • Interactive profile walkthroughs that organize achievements, skills, and experiences into a navigable spatial layout

  • Collaborative notes and jump points, enabling hiring teams to review and discuss candidates together

This approach adds a “human layer” early in the hiring process without sacrificing speed or structure.

Mockup of holistic presentation mode of candidate elevator pitch. Everything a recruiter needs is presented in one collective view, including candidate rankings, elevator pitch, story books, and profile overview.

Mockup of how eye tracking technology in the Apple Vision Pro can switch between views.

Mockup of profile walkthrough. The recruiter has a dynamic view of a candidate's achievements, skills, and experience.
